Anees Ubaid: Designing with Heritage, Precision, and Purpose
Anees Ubaid is a designer whose passion for architecture is rooted in cultural legacy, technical excellence, and a desire to create lasting, meaningful spaces. Originally from Babylon, Iraq, Anees draws inspiration from the enduring architectural heritage of his homeland—where structures have stood for thousands of years, telling stories of resilience and ingenuity. This deep connection to the past continues to shape his approach to design, blending timeless form with thoughtful innovation.
With several years of experience working on high-end residential and commercial projects, Anees has contributed to the development of waterfront estates, classically inspired homes, and contemporary designs that reflect precision and sustainability. He is especially passionate about creating work that balances environmental responsibility with functionality and beauty.
Anees is also known for his strong technical skills in architectural software, using advanced tools to produce renderings, construction documentation, and visual narratives that bring design visions to life. Whether collaborating with clients, consultants, or design teams, he approaches projects with clarity, intention, and an eye for detail.
His professional journey has been shaped by a strong foundation in education and mentorship. Anees earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland and has been actively working in the Annapolis area since 2017. His dedication was recognized with an Honorable Mention in the 2020 CCCAP design competition, and he is currently working toward architectural licensure with his AXP hours nearly complete.
Beyond project work, Anees actively engages with the local design community through organizations such as AIA Baltimore and initiatives across the Chesapeake Bay region. His interests span traditional architecture, urban design, aviation architecture, and master planning—areas he hopes to explore further as he takes the next step in his career.
Looking ahead, Anees aspires to work on transformative, large-scale projects that engage with community needs and cultural identity. He believes architecture should not only inspire but also serve as a meaningful contribution to the people and places it touches.
As we celebrate Arab American Heritage Month, DCNOMA proudly spotlights Anees Ubaid—whose heritage, vision, and commitment to thoughtful design reflect the richness and diversity of our profession.
