Linda J. Clark has dedicated her career to designing high-performing learning and workplace environments that foster inclusivity and accessibility. With a dual expertise in architecture and interior design, she has made a profound impact on the built environment, ensuring that spaces are not only functional but also welcoming to all.
Her journey in architecture is marked by a commitment to mentorship, community engagement, and design excellence. Linda’s technical proficiency includes expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketch-Up, as well as a strong background in graphic rendering and space planning. She has played a pivotal role in shaping environments that enhance the user experience, particularly in education and workplace design.
Leadership and Advocacy
Linda’s leadership journey was influenced by her participation in the AIA Grassroots (now AIA Leadership Summit) as part of the Emerging Professional Advisory Program (EPAP). She is the Founder and CEO of the Creative Build-Up Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to providing STEAM educational programming for minority students, ensuring equal opportunities regardless of socioeconomic status.
During her EPAP tenure, Linda was promoted to Senior Associate at Grimm + Parker Architects, where she contributed significantly to the architectural design team for Graceland Park-O’Donnell Heights Elementary/Middle School and Holabird Academy. These projects were recognized with the Excellence in Design Award at the 2022 AIA Maryland Design Awards Competition, an achievement celebrated on September 29, 2022, at The Center for Architecture and Design in Baltimore.
Commitment to the Future of Architecture
Beyond her professional work, Linda is deeply committed to supporting and mentoring the next generation of architects and designers. She is actively involved in efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in architecture, ensuring that underrepresented voices have access to the opportunities needed to succeed in the field.
Her work highlights the transformative power of architecture—not just as a means of constructing buildings, but as a tool for social impact and equity. Linda’s contributions to the profession, her advocacy for inclusive design, and her leadership in education and mentorship make her a standout professional. DC NOMA is proud to recognize Linda J. Clark for her exceptional contributions to architecture and design!
